What exactly is “Zed?”

“Zed” is a first-person exploration into the puzzling dreams of a dying artist as he attempts to complete his final work. It’s a beautiful adventure puzzle game that encourages exploration and imagination. We at Eagre Games have long been working on this little gem and cannot wait to share it with the world!

“Eagre Games?”

Yes! Right, “Hello there!” Eagre is a small and mighty team with big dreams. Lead by Chuck Carter, one of the creative forces behind the “Myst” games, we are spread all over the Eastern side of the US – artist, developer and writer from Bangor (ME), an artist and video guru hailing from Cleveland (OH), with a little bit of NY creativity thrown in the mix! How the studio got put together is a tale of tales for another time, but for now we are all focused on sharing our story, “Zed” with you!

I am working on getting some Main Menus and UI in place! So far so good – we’re going for a tactile-yet-unobtrusive sketchbook page feel, but not too tactile, mostly minimally designed with inked-icons. This is one of our first passes, and we can’t wait to see how it plays with the other game elements, and how it stands up to some user testing.

An ornate tileset that will pepper some of the dreamscapes.

A mysterious landscape in Zed! This island level is very picturesque.

A new explorable area in ZED - inspired a little by artist John Harris. You can’t make a game like ZED without lots of inspiration - from our own dreams to artists we admire.
